Billy Idol was the first person I ever so live in concert at Wembley Arena way back in about 1992 I think. I have Idolized him ever since and actually really enjoy his songs even though he is on the more outer edges of my type of style of music. This album brings together 16 of his songs that totally mean Billy Idol to me. They are all songs that he produced around the time I was really into him and therefore it's not only a blast from the past when you listen to this but also a remembered love and enjoyment of his music. Pop punk may now be a genre of over-heated political naff-ness to be honest, but back in the 80's it was a different story. One of the members of the pop punk movement of the 80's (and early 90's) was Billy Idol. In 2001 this album was put together before his return. For some reason, pop-punk, or power pop, seems to be pretty big at the moment. Although they’ve just split, Blink 182 really brought the genre back into the mainstream in recent years, allowing bands like Green Day, who had been carrying along quietly in the background to hit centre stage again themselves.
