Boney M are rather like marmite, you either love them or hate them. I do like them, but you have to be in a party mood to fully appreciate their music. Who are they: A West Indian group, comprising four females and one male. They had a run of success in the late seventies and eighties. They still tour to this day, though the vocals are a little ropey live. On this album: 'Rivers Of Babylon' sold not far off two million copies and is a rousing anthem. I find it rather sickly though, it is almost too happy for its own good. The song has strong religious overtones which work well though. Introduction Boney M The history of Boney M is such that Frank Farian (Franz Reuther), German schlager singer wanted to record the song "Baby Do You Wanna Bump?" in a deep female voice. He finally chose Boney M. This group consist of Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett (Jamaica), Maizie Williams (Montserrat), and Bobby Farrell (Aruba). BONEY M GOLD was release in February of 1999 was release in Germany and then by Tower Records in the UK. Frank Farian Produced it. I'm sure that Frank Farian didn't know when he recorded , (under the pseudonym of Boney M.),"Baby Do You Wanna Bump" that this song would make him so famous.
