In the last couple of years I discovered - pretty late, admittedly - the appeal of Bruce Springsteen. If like me, you saw Born in the USA in the eighties and regarded 'The Boss' as an overblown American icon, full of patriotic bombast and grand but unsatisfying themes, pitched a couple of notches below Meat Loaf, then this album might be worth a listen. I'm a big fan of singer/songwriters and this album is a great sampler of the breadth of his work. Having listened to this album, I bought several of the albums that contributed tracks and I think I'm probably now a fan. (The 17 year old me would die of shame). I think one of the attributes of a ... Read the complete review

You had better not be reading this review because you DON'T already own this album-what are you doing here? Get thee to a music website and buy it this very second! Now you can take your power ballad compilations and Jeremy Clarkson CDs, but there is no better driving album than The Boss' greatest hits. The album starts with 1974's Born to Run. I challenge you to find a song more likely to get you singing along, at the traffic lights or elsewhere. If you haven't screeched at the top of your voice "I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight in an everlasting kiss!!" unaware that other drivers can hear you through the open window, ... It is only when you sit and listen to this greatest hits collection that you fully begin to realise just how good Bruce Springsteen is. As soon as you hear the opening rock n roll classic ‘Born to Run’ you know that you are about to listen to something special. However, don’t think that your just listening to some dumb rock star, there is true diversity to the tracks on the album and listen to the lyrics and you begin to appreciate the feelings of anguish and loss that permeate tracks from the heart rending ‘Streets of Philadelphia’ to the thought provoking ‘Better Days’. Don’t be fooled into thinking that this is a ... Read the complete review

bruce springsteen greatest hits, this is a bit of a dodgy title as firstly it doesnt some if his biggest hits where is i'm on fire , cover me, war, im goin down, one step up, tougher than the rest, etc etc. what it does include is songs from born to run till the hit streets of philadelphia, and 4 new songs recorded with the e street band at the time. so a greatest hits it isnt as even some songs were nver released as singles i.e thunder road and atlantic city, though they are considered classics. so the album its self is it worth your money ? well yes defiantly. but you'd be better of getting the later album the essiential collection which includes more hits ... Named as 'The Boss', which he claimed with pride, singing 'Born in the USA', which for fellow Americans quickly became their second national anthem. In the video 'Dancing in the Dark', he introduced a very young Courtney Cox. The album itself sold approxamately 13 million copies.. astounding stuff. Bruce has had a string of hits, and is one of the sucess stories in the music industry. As he once said in an interview that he only played music to get the girlies.. and that he did! In fact, his plot started at a very young age of thirteen, ignoring school he went on to become a rock and roll icon. This is a classic rock ... Read the complete review
