Rating:

The real outstanding thing about Glenn Miller is that his music is timeless. If you like swing, you just can't help adoring his tracks. His Orchestra are one of the greatest swing accomplishments on record, with fanatical precision, extreme dynamics, and perfect intonation. Greatest Hits: Glenn Miller There are literally hundreds of Glenn Miller compilations, best hits, greatest of type albums out there, but as this is the one that I downloaded and own, it is the one I will be reviewing. Why did I choose this one above the others? Firstly, it is by RCA Victor, a record company that for me, evokes the golden days of vinyl, secondly it has all the tunes that I particularly like. Products similar to Greatest Hits - Glenn Miller

Some excellent covers, a decent track list, brings some more variety to a neglected genre Some covers are well below par

A nice intro to British funk. Maybe a bit too smooth.

Some great musicianship Never really lets go

Very smooth, accomplished sax playing. Bit too 'cocktail lounge'.

Good overall album Not many stand out tracks

Fantastic artist revamping a tonne of classics and throwing in a few originals. A few too many covers and no lyrics in the insert

Japanese Whispers - The Cure
The Lovecats is insanely good. The b-sides are great songs in their own right Let's Go To Bed now sounds dated, No Simon Gallup playing bass

Just Dreaming - Crematory
More convincing doom metal performance. Industrial elements clash.

Knives Don't Have Your Back - Emily Haines And The Soft Skeleton

Last Night In Town - Every Time I Die
An incredible album of metalcore, fine vocal and instrumental work. Complex song structures may put some listeners off.

Last Sunset - Conception
Enjoyable early power metal, with great vocals. Progressive touches sound forced and not too impressive.

Life On Life's Terms - Bedlight for Blue Eyes
The vocal range on display here is excellent, the guitar hooks sublime. If you don't like the vocal sound of Fall Out Boy then you probably won't like this.

Live It Out - Metric
The charisma of Emily Haines, half the songs The other five songs, the lyrics are really hit-and-miss

Lyfe Change - Lyfe Jennings
Couple tracks Never gets started

Jacques: Shockheaded Peter - A Junk Opera - The Tiger Lillies
3 very talented musicians, a great act Not for all
