The real outstanding thing about Glenn Miller is that his music is timeless. If you like swing, you just can't help adoring his tracks. His Orchestra are one of the greatest swing accomplishments on record, with fanatical precision, extreme dynamics, and perfect intonation. This album epitomises all that Glenn Miller stood for, with a sample of his very greatest compositions, including the likes of the technically demanding American Patrol, the cheeky number that is Pennsylvania 6-5000 (Whooo wooo!), the immortal In The Mood and the masterpiece: A string of Pearls. Greatest Hits: Glenn Miller There are literally hundreds of Glenn Miller compilations, best hits, greatest of type albums out there, but as this is the one that I downloaded and own, it is the one I will be reviewing. Why did I choose this one above the others? Firstly, it is by RCA Victor, a record company that for me, evokes the golden days of vinyl, secondly it has all the tunes that I particularly like. For those that do not know, Glen Miller was a band leader and trombonist of the 'swing' era.
