And so begins my second venture into reviewing the priceless Hazell Dean, one of the eighties much loved treasures and now, sadly a fading memory. Hazell churned out some storming cheesy pop tracks in the mid eighties under the guidance of Stock Aitken and Waterman. This album collects her so called gretest hits.

'Searchin' kicks off the album with a furiously confident pitch. Hazell's vocals are alert and vibrant as she begins her quest for 'a man.' By the end of the track she still hasn't found the man, but you will have been fulfilled by the glaring poppy chorus.

'Whatever I Do' is another triumphant pop effort, with a bellowing chorus and some good wheezing synths to carry the riff.

I am less fond of 'Evergreen' which lacks the polish and finesse of some of the other songs and fails to motivate one to get up and dance. 'They Say It's Gonna Rain' is more effective, using a mid tempo beat and some uplifting lyrics from Hazell to add flight to the track. I like the way the song unfolds and it has a very stimulating rhythm.

'Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing ' sees Hazell team up with vocal giant Daryl Pandy. Pandy is as camp as they come and has one of those voices which can make your blood run cold. The song works as a duet and makes you wonder why more duets were not used throughout her career.

The final track is my choice pick, 'Who's Leaving Who ' is a rip roaring pop effort with a high energy vibe and plenty of danceability. It will get stuck in the head and make you wish Hazell was still belting out the hits to this day.

If you like early Kylie, Sonia and Debbie Gibson then this album is for you. 14 tracks and some succulent cover artwork.

Summary: super
