While there was clearly not enough room for all their great songs, all of their major hits are included, including my favorite, "I Saw Her Again"... complete with Denny's goof that became a feature of the song. The voices are clearer and lyrics more understandable, and the instrumental backup, which was somewhat unconventio...more

Greatest Hits - Mamas & The Papas: Mamas n Papas (173 words)

Anyone who listened to top-40 radio in the 60's has to remember the first time they heard "California Dreamin'". The haunting lyrics and the tight, clear harmonies had a folkish sound that was clearly ahead of its time. When their music finally became available on CD, the textures became more apparent and the true artistic content was more clearly defined. On this disc, which was carefully remastered from the original analog tapes, the Mamas and the Papas are finally heard at their best. Premium Review Mama Mia (322 words)

This is one of the best Mamas & Papas albums currently available. It's a shame that "It's getting better" and "Make your own kind of music" are not on here (no doubt for licensing reasons as these were released as solo Mama Cass recordings), making it a less than 'complete' collection. Thinking back as a child, I remember watching a movie about a dragon and a witch in a 'magical' land. Turned out to be the lady from this band 'The Mama's and the Papas', so that's talking about time flying! Anyway, the album is absolutely brilliant and I just love the song 'California Dreamin'. The album has atotal of 24 tracks which include: California Dreamin, Dedicated to the one I love, Monday Monday, Dream a little dream of me and My Girl. The only track that isn't on this album that I can think of is 'These Boots were made for walking', which is a shame because it is a great song. ...  Read the complete review
