When asked what his favourite Beatles album was, Alan Partridge exclaimed it was "The Best of the Beatles". Greatest hits or best of albums are a strange thing. Most of the time they are released when a band splits or when they've reached a pinnacle of success and feel it time to move in a different direction. Of course they are also money-spinners and ideal buys for those who like some of the bands songs but wouldn't buy the albums. Of course fans will already have the albums and there is normally little point in them buying these kinds of releases unless they're completely die-hard. So it's strange to see a Greatest Hits package by the Red Hot ... Read the complete review

After hearing a Red Hot Chili Peppers song (herein referred to as RHCP) on the radio a year or so ago I suddenly realised that I don't own any of their material and decided I must hunt down at least one or two albums that I love to add to my collection. One of my choices was this, their greatest hits, as I thought it would be great to have quite a few amazing songs on one album that I could listen to when I desperately wanted some feel good music to blare out. Throughout this review I have provided background history, chart information, my personal opinion on each song as well as a rating out of 5. This style of review writing may not be to everybody's taste ... Read the complete review

Red Hot Chili Peppers. One of the greatest Rock Bands to ever grace us with music on this planet. Even the pop-genre loving people love this Band! Seven Grammys and 50m records sold Universally. Why? And although they arent in any sort of chronological order, they still have an individual story behind them and an individual story to tell. Mixing the old lyrics of what Drugs do to you, and the way Kiedis felt about his life way back when, with the new age lyrics which continue the story, but past the experiences of back ... I like the song selection for the most part on this greatest cd collection but can not get over the fact that a song like "Aeroplane" was left off. The song had a music video and was a great song for them at a time of change with new guitar player Dave Navarro (formerly of Janes Addiction). The greatest hits collection takes the Chili Peppers up through By the Way, which at the current time is their second to last cd put out. The tracklist is good though considering all the material that is available. The opening song "Under the Bridge" is probably their most famous song. Californication is well represented with "Californication", "Scar ... Read the complete review
