Advantages: All the old favourites are here and a new one too! Special DVD edition has videos as well as music

Disadvantages: Cheaply printed CD/DVD, but I am just picky

Well, I'll be revealing my age by saying that I remember the Spice Girls when they first came out. They oozed girl power and were a very influential band however a lot of their songs were superficial, but saying that, they were catchy tunes which you couldn't help moving your feet to. They were something fresh and new as was their message of "Girl Power". They affected many of my generation to go out their and get on with life, enjoy it. Anyhow, the question that must be asked is how do they stand up now so many years later? I can only say that their new single "Headlines" (which is included in this compilation) was a disappoinment, but it was for charity so who am I to complain? No matter, I have fond memories so I went out in search of this album.

Straight away I found this cd-only album, "Greatest Hits", in Virgin for £10. The reason I say this is because I was so dissatisfied with the cost I went online and found the special edition which includes a bonus DVD with many of their videos there (missing is "Headlines") for £10,93 from www.adsa.com. I snapped it up and it arrived all the way from Guernsey in a few days.

Ripping the package open, I was pleasantly surprised by the sleek black packaging which was very pretty, but disappointed by the print on the CD/DVD itself as they look cheap and tatty. They should have spent a few more pennies and made them colour-printed. Maybe I am hard to please, but I don't like signs of cost-cutting happening in studios everywhere.

The track listing on the CD is as follows:

Wannabe
Say You'll Be There
2 Become 1
Mama
Who Do You Think You Are
Move Over
Spice Up Your Life
Too Much
Stop
Viva Forever
Let Love Lead The Way
Holler
Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)
Voodoo
Goodbye

The bonus special edition video tracklisting for the DVD is as follows:

Wannabe
Say You'll Be There
2 Become 1
Mama
Who Do You Think You Are
Spice Up Your Life
Too Much
Stop
Viva Forever
Let Love Lead The Way
Holler
Goodbye

I would just like to mention that none of either the tracks on the CD or the videos on the DVD have been remastered. Greatest Hits compilations tend to be remastered but this one isn't.

OK, the songs are all there. The ones you got drunk to and well, staggered home to. It was a fun time and girl power was all the rage. Now I find myself reminiscing about the past! No matter, this is a great party-music CD. Lots of familiar tunes, old favourites and some cringe-worthy ones too. I'm slightly sad that their reunion isn't as big as it could have been. I digress. If you were an original Spice Girl fan, or a new one, this CD is packed with big selling songs which anyone of any age can enjoy. If you're a hardcore fan, you will purchase the special edition with the DVD of videos as they are very nice and atmospheric, espcially "Goodbye". That's a sad one, but it's good.

I'm very happy with my special edition, all I can say is it is well worth a couple of pounds more for it from Asda online.

Take care and girl power to you!

Summary: Spice up your party. Lots of girl power songs and includes a new song. Good value if you get the DVD

Lots of technical info on the disc, but a bit lacking in giving an impression of what the songs sound like (though I can annoyingly remember a couple from mid-90s primary school discos, grr).
