Advantages: All the hits
Disadvantages: The more recent songs aren't as good
Wow, this brings back memories. The Spice Girls were the first band I ever got into, the first album and single I ever bought were by them... they basically introduced me to the music world. This CD brings together their greatest hits from their short time together.
Track Listing
1. Wannabe - The song that started it all, this is a really special pop song. It sounds quite dated now, but in a fun way, and at the time it really did sound fresh and different.
2. Say You'll Be There - The Girls' second single, this sounds less dated and is very melodic.
3. 2 Become 1 - The first ballad and the first of three Christmas Number Ones. The best one too, in my opinion!
4. Mama - I never liked this one too much, I always thought it was a bit soppy. However I guess it sent out a good message to the group's young fans.
5. Who Do You Think You Are - A double A side with Mama, this song had a brilliant video featuring the likes of Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders! It's a really catchy track.
6. Move Over - A slightly more futuristic song for the girls, this was the 'Pepsi song'. Generation Next!
7. Spice Up Your Life - The first single from their second album Spiceworld - a corker.
8. Too Much - The second Christmas Number One. Another good song!
9. Stop - A fun, Motown-inspired hit. Can't believe this song only got to number 2...
10. Viva Forever - I used to absolutely love this song. It's very sad, with Spanish guitar and soft vocals.
11. Let Love Lead The Way - A single from their third album, Forever. To be honest, I thought their third album was quite bland, nothing special, and this one is no different.
12. Holler - A RnB song, rather like something Destiny's Child would have done. Again, not as good as their old stuff.
13. Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) - This song, their 'comeback' single, was nothing special - they have definitely lost their spark.
14. Voodoo - A new song for this album. Ok, but not as good as the classics.
15. Goodbye - The 'Goodbye Geri' song. Really sad.
This album brings back loads of great memories! The Spice Girls were fantastic during their first two albums. They made different, energetic, fun pop. However they definitely started to go downhill once Geri left. The songs after that have something missing.
Still, if you want all their fab hits on one CD, then go get this album!
Summary: Relive the 90s with this album!
