On the eve of her long overdue return, I thought I would have a crack at reviewing Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits. Whilst her comeback performance on X Factor last night showed that she is a shadow of her former self, Houston is still one of the most powerful vocalists in music. Despite a fall from grace and an absence from the charts for not far off a decade, I am always reminded to listen to this wonderful woman every weekend. Her voice is one in a million and you cannot argue with her performances on most of the tracks on this compilation. Well she has been around for years and there seems no way we can get rid of her. You either love her or you hate her, I opt for the love. But Whitney is more of a pro than we think, not only has she had hundred of hits (that are on this album) but she has been a successful actress, wife to Bobby Brown and mother. I love thi album.I like the way how you can listen to different sides depending on the mood you are in i.e cool down or throw down.When first listening to this album i tended to listen to the newest releases e.g my love is your love, etc, but after a few times of listening to the album i found that you couldn't beat the classics. my favourite side without a doubt has to be CD2 Throw Down as the tunes on this are so uplifting.I start by listening to song no.6 and onward missing out the new tunes at the start of the album.I recomend this album to any girls out there who love to sing in the mirror or dance round the room or even a night in with the lasses. A great buy for any Whitney fan giving you remixes of classics and classics in their original format. This double CD isn't only the slower smoochy tracks that one might expect but remixes are from names such as CJ Mackintosh (who has been known in the hip hop and dance seen for over a decade) and Hex Hector. You can also expect to hear duets with George Michael, Jermaine Jackson, CeCe Winans, Jermaine Jackson to name a few.
