The Grim Fandango Soundtrack CD is a superb album that features all of the excellent tracks from classic PC Adventure game, Grim Fandango, in order of appearance in the game itself. In keeping with the themes of the classic game, and in a brilliantly original move, it fuses fast-paced mexican folk with classic, film noir-esque, smoky latin jazz. This, alongside much of the ancient Aztec art that the game employs is also reflected in the attractive sleeve and album art. The soundtrack was one of the most important and impressive aspects of Grim Fandango and this album really helps to encapsulate the feel of the game, dark yet uplifting, atmospheric and emotional. It truly is a superb score, 31 incredibly varying tracks in total, each lasting from around 2-3 minutes. The Grim Fandango Original Soundtrack is, although available for free download at LucasArts own site, still worth owning due to to the audio quality of the tracks, and the very nice cover-art. The stylistic devices of which, are hugely reminiscent of the game. If you can get your hands on a copy (its pretty difficult to come by,) you should definitely pick one up. I wholeheartedly recommend this CD to jazz fans, fans of noir film and adventure games. Its something really original and remarkably different, and paints a riveting picture of Mexican Culture. Superb.
