Grinderman is really the name for the latest Nick Cave project, yet is a far throw away from what you usually expect from Nick Cave. Nick Cave's records recently have been very spiritual and poetic, Grinderman is the opposite, it is immature, groovy, sacrilegious. hip hop, rocking The music uses feedback and Hammond organs to excess, as well as little riffs that make no sense in a Captain Beefheart style. It sounds like rock and roll resurrected. Grinderman with their self-titled album Grinderman was a Nick Cave side-project before his latest album Dig Lazarus Dig, Grinderman has been described as "old men ageing disgracefully" and that's exactly what it is, it sounds like old gits obsessed with girls but it doesn't really try to be anything different. The album came about when Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were tired following extensive and perhaps excessive touring of their 13 album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. Nick Cave started to write some songs on guitar, Nick Cave rarely uses guitar and it therefore brings a very raw flavour to the band, somewhat different to any of The Bad Seeds albums ...
