Guy's self-entitled debut came out in 1988. It had Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall and Timmy Gatling coming with the brand new sound (lasting from this time to around 1992) with New Jack Swing. This R&B/Hip Hop hybrid took typical R&B to new places with sample-rich music, which takes the swing side to the front, and relaxed the sensual stuff for a while. They were pioneers in the field, and most big groups in the R&B field performed New Jack Swing too, with the likes of Bell Biv DeVoe, Bobby Brown and Wreckx-n-Effect all being big at the time. 1.
