Advantages: Great music
Disadvantages: Not as good as seeing them live
Half these songs are about you by Nizlopi is certainly somewhat of an aquired taste, that i will say - however for me its something very unique!
I first heard of Nizlopi when a friend sent me a link to the JCB song when it was first released - i listened, thought it was ok, and didt listen again.
A few months later i went to see Jamie Cullum live in Cardiff - and who should be the support band, you guessed it, Nizlopi. First of all the figure in jeans and a hoodie (with the hood right up and over his face) walked onto the stage with a double base and started ping-ing out a beat - most of the audience asumed it was Jamie and watched wondering what next - well this was not the case and after a minute or two, another guy wandered onto playing a guitar and started playing the JCB song - having not known they were the suppoirt band it was only at this point that everybody realised what wa going on!
They went on to play a good 45 minute set (the whole album basically) and it was100% fantastic!!
Now i do love the album, and listen to it regularly - i think the sings are great - however having seen them here what i would say is they are best by far as a live performance with a double bass and an accoustic guitar! Their sound when live is one of the most raw examples of music you could imagine - a style i love.
Give the album a go, its really very good - but if yoi get the chance to see them live, take it!
Summary: A very raw musical talent, best experienced live!
