As many of you can perhaps tell, music is one of my main passions in life; I simply love finding out about a variety of different artists, both new and old, in hope of broadening my once narrow tastes. Our Lady Peace were another band from across the pond which I discovered by watching WWE programming. Romantic, huh? Our Lady Peace's "Happiness is not a fish that you can catch" Album is a fantastic album to buy and these are the reasons why, broken down into a song by song review. OLP are an alternative rock band originating from Toronto, and like so few of their contemporary's they sound fresh. A merge of heavy sounding guitars and a voice capable of sounding paranoid but also in control. Not quite mainstream music, but yet also not too far away from it to make it sound outlandish. I first stumbled across Canadian rockers, Our Lady Peace, when I went to see the Stereophonics live at the NIA in Birmingham. I have to say they put the rather dull Stereophonics to shame and made me feel that my ticket had been worth buying. Stylistically they can be thrown in the wide style bucket that holds bands like Nirvana, Everclear and the Foo Fighters. They?re not all straight forward grunge-o-rock though, there are hints of intricate Led Zeppelin moments along with a few that nod at Jeff Buckley.
