Our Lady Peace's "Happiness is not a fish that you can catch" Album is a fantastic album to buy and these are the reasons why, broken down into a song by song review. OLP are an alternative rock band originating from Toronto, and like so few of their contemporary's they sound fresh. A merge of heavy sounding guitars and a voice capable of sounding paranoid but also in control. Not quite mainstream music, but yet also not too far away from it to make it sound outlandish. Track listing 1. One Man Army 2. Happiness And The Fish 3. Potato Girl 4. Blister 5. Is Anybody Home 6. Waited 7. Thief 8. Lying Awake ... Read the complete review

As many of you can perhaps tell, music is one of my main passions in life; I simply love finding out about a variety of different artists, both new and old, in hope of broadening my once narrow tastes. Our Lady Peace were another band from across the pond which I discovered by watching WWE programming. Romantic, huh? Anyway, the first track that I'd ever heard of by them was a song called 'Whatever', which you can only purchase via the Live CD and DVD. Being extremely impressed with their angry guitars and drum beats alike, I was also fascinated by their lead singer's lunatic like vocals; they were certainly not anything like you'd hear on the commercial radio ... I first stumbled across Canadian rockers, Our Lady Peace, when I went to see the Stereophonics live at the NIA in Birmingham. I have to say they put the rather dull Stereophonics to shame and made me feel that my ticket had been worth buying. Stylistically they can be thrown in the wide style bucket that holds bands like Nirvana, Everclear and the Foo Fighters. They?re not all straight forward grunge-o-rock though, there are hints of intricate Led Zeppelin moments along with a few that nod at Jeff Buckley. However, I?m not the most experienced of Our Lady Peace fans. I?ve got a couple of videos I downloaded, a smattering of mp3?s as well as my memories of them ... Read the complete review

The 3rd album proper by Canadian alt rockers Our Lady Peace is a slight departure from the sounds of there two previous efforts, breakthrough album Naveed and the commercialy succesful clumsy. the angry straight forward guitars are replaced by a softer, almost psycadelic effect laden aproach which gives the album a much more melencholic feel. However these changes in sound do not at all effect the quality of the album and in many cases actualy improve the band as the song writing is more streamlined and consistant with this new aproach. Inspite of the changes many of the bands tradmarks remain, most noticably Jeramy Taggarts inventive jazz like ... Read the complete review

The Sky's Gone Out - Bauhaus
Builds on the style of the debut, and indulges in successful experiments.
Some songs are a little weak, or rely too much on volume gimmicks, and lack structure.
Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape - Bauhaus
A slightly different take on some songs.
A bit cheeky to sell it as an independent album, considering it was originally a bonus LP.
Mask - Bauhaus
Kick-started the gothic rock movement (if you consider that a good thing).
Repetitive and less original than the previous album.
In The Flat Field - Bauhaus
Strong, inventive and original debut, with innovative guitars and passionate vocals.
Songs tend to follow the same build-up/pay-off structure and are often repetitive.
Greatest Hits - Squeeze
All the hits, great value
Doesn't include the band's highly regarded 1990s work
Frank: Expanded Reissue - Squeeze
A musical lesson in the history of british guitar pop.Musically&lyrically cool&catchy.Retro appeal.
Not their best album, but definitely doesnt deserve to have flopped as much as it did.
