White Pony - Deftones ... song features my favorite song by Defotnes "Back To School". This song is on the end of another song and is a separate track on the album with bonus tracks. This album was released at a time when nu-metal ruled the rock roost, White Pony , the Deftones 3rd record was released in a period when the band were expected to forsake any artistic development and create an album of simple riffs, rapping and tortured lyrics. Well, after listening to White Pony I began to listen to this genre of music more and more. I now love Defotnes and cant wait for another album. The Crusade - Trivium ... are simply brilliant (like a recent Metallica) As much as I thought their original style was not particularly interesting to begin with, it is extremely strange for any band to simply throw their old sound out of the window in favor of something else. Yes, this is very strange indeed and yet this is precisely what the guys from Trivium did. To make matters even more complicated, the new Trivium sound is basically old-school thrash (with some heavy metal elements here and there), rooted especially firmly in bands such as Metallica. Few bands would survive the loss of such an iconic and distinctive frontman as Layne and the fact that this record sounds so good is testament to two things.
