      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Probably more for real fans!

Elvis Presley was and still is the king of rock and roll but along with his music came his films and although they never reached the heights that his music did they produced some great sound track and Harum Scarum is one of them.

Containing much lesser known Elvis tracks this album offers something different to fans and non fans alike, it is still the raw pure vocal talent of Elvis but the musical arrangement of the tracks and the change of pace to the normal Elvis music brings out another side of his talent.

There are a couple of weaker tracks on this album in the shape of Harem Holiday and Shake my tambourine but all in all it is a great listen and although this is a very old album it has been re-mastered and released on CD and it is still available in some places just check online.

This is a very good album but I would suggest it is probably more suited to Elvis fans like myself rather than general listeners.

      TRACKS:

      Harem Holiday
      My desert serenade
      Go east young man
      Mirage
      Kismet
      Shake that tambourine
      Hey little girl
      Golden coins
      So close yet so far

        Harum Scarum

HARUM SCARUM is a CD released by the Elvis Presley specialist record label FTD and is related to the 1965 movie of the same name. It is an extended version of the original LP, with alternate takes and outtakes added to supplement the original master recordings from the original album tracks.

The material on this album is definitely not Elvis' best. Some of the songs are OK, such as WISDOM OF THE AGES which has a fast tempo and a cool groove, and HAREM HOLIDAY, which is quite a tacky song but the outtakes reveal Elvis mucking up the lyrics but still keeping going.

Other song are of lesser quality, such as SHAKE MY TAMBOURINE. This is a throwaway song which for some reason took Elvis 38 takes to get right. Not the best Elvis song by any means.

As with many of these FTD soundtrack CDs HARUM SCARUM is not a must-buy by any means, but is essential for those Elvis aficionados like myself who feel the need to own everything ever recorded by The King.
