... metal roots but still retaining the horror keyboards and melodic guitars in a manner that now seems uncomfortably contrived. This is Children of Bodom trying too hard to sound like Children of Bodom. There are still some fine songs, notably the well-known opener 'Needled 24/7' with its catchy riff and the successful experiment at a slow song in the form of 'Angels Don't Kill,' but the rest is largely mediocre. The guitars are less exciting now than ever, mainly relegated to the duty of heavy riffs in tandem with the ...more

Roughly even coverage of studio material. Lacklustre performance, and past the band's prime.

Improvement over 'Mercenary.' Still suffers from the same problems.

Well-chosen collection from all of the band's good albums. Hard to find.

Continuing to re-define the sound. I'm not so fond of the direction change.

Contemplative and melodic, with great compositions and musicianship None

Dio gets his mojo back, and celebrates in bombastic concept album style. Riffs are still repetitive and plodding.
