Advantages: all the hits
Disadvantages: hmm none really
One of those groups who pop up on radio every once in a while but seem to have faded away in the charts. They were a familiar chart visitor in the nineties though.
Who are they:
A Scottish group who managed to fuse pop rock and folk sounds to great effect. Fronted by lead singer Justin.
On this album:
The brief but delightful charm of 'Roll With It' will please you. It is over before it's begun, yet is delivered in such a chirpy way, you can't fail to find something to smile about. A perfect slice of pop music.
'Kiss This Thing Goodbye' is done well, with a fesity vocal and an understated amount of aggression behind it. I find the tune catchy and the guitar work commendable here. For something more depressing head to 'Nothing Ever Happens' which could be an anthem for anyone out of love/work or even hope, it will jerk a tear or two.
My final recommendation here is 'Always The Last To Know,' where Justin bemoans how he is always the last one to find out about what is going on with his ex. Lyrics you can identify with are delivered with a bittersweet conviction.
Overall:
I was surprised how many I remembered on here; 17 tracks is great value and is a reminder of a group who never really achieved the success they probably deserved
Summary: good pop music
