Hear My Cry - Sonique

I must admit that I'm not usually a big fan of dance music, but when I heard Sonique's superb singles 'Feels so good' and 'Sky' I thought that I would get the album. However I soon discovered that it had not lived up to my expectations. There is nothing as good as the two said singles, and there is a whole host of forgettable tracks. The album is not so much dance music that you would hear at a club. It has more of a moody jazz feel to it, but more up-tempo. When I heared her number one single 'It feels so good' I did not like it originally but it grew on me and I started playing it more and more. I then went out and bought 'Hear my Cry' and feel that I have listebed to one of the best CD's released this year. Her voice is so soulfull and different I feel that there is none of this hi-tech mixing its all very natural. An artist I would love to see live. Songs like the mellow 'Learn to forget' to the upbeat title track 'hear my cry' belt out at you. Sonique has released three songs from the album 'Feels so good' 'Sky' and 'Put a Spell on You' and to be fair all three are great tracks, but let me tell you that the album does not live up to the general standard. You hear some songs and they grow on you, you think they are sh1t when you first hear them, but after a while you really begin to like listening to them, well this album doesn't even have that, I have had the album for ages and let me tell you that no matter how many times I listen to it I think it is still cr@p. I started to know Sonique when her fantastic "It feels so good" gone straight to the top selling single for several weeks. Then I decided to buy this album hoping that the album is as good as her single. If you think that you will find lots of tracks like "it feels so good" then you are mistaken. The only other track worth a listen is "I put a spell on you" but then again that was a huge track in 98 and you're bound to have it in me dance compilation.
