Advantages: Eliza's wonderfully energetic fiddle-playing

Disadvantages: None

Heat, Light and Sound was the first album from Eliza Carthy. It features traditional folk tunes which she has arranged. The best thing about this album is Eliza's insane fiddle playing - she really gives it some welly. This is a CD which will definitely get your feet tapping and I certainly enjoy singing along to it. Her voice is not fantastic, but that actually really suits the music (and it makes you less self-conscious about singing along!). I'm not sure who I would recommend this album too. If you are into folk/traditional music you have probably already heard of it. If you like the folky elements in pop music (e.g. The Corrs) you might like Heat, Light and Sound. It isn't at all pop-py so it may not be mainstream enough for some people. I would certainly recommend it though, especially if you like jigging around the kitchen (well, it's a cheaper way to doing exercise than going to the gym!).

Seems to mostly be English according to the CD inlay. If you go to sites like Amazon or Streets Online you can hear samples. You can also hear Eliza on the Waterson Carthy albums (with parents like that how could she not be talented!)

I love fiddle music, but have never heard of this artiste. When you say traditional folk, are you talking about Irish or English?
