Advantages: A few good songs
Disadvantages: To much filler
Well if you have read some of my reviews you will know I'm a huge fan of Oasis. Have already reviewed some of their albums, so thought well here is another one, so might as well give it a review. Heathen Chemistry came out back in 2002. How does it compare with there early classic work? Is it any good? Well here is what I reckon to each song:
1. The Hindi Times - Classic Oasis. Big sounds, big beats and big lyrics. Liam belts out the words and the songs moves along nicely. Very good start to the album. 9/10
2. Force Of Nature - Pretty poor. Not a song I am a big fan of. Noel sings on this track and it just lacks any real power. 6/10
3. Hung In A Bad Place - Another song that is just missing something. Its more upbeat than the previous song, but the words are nothing special and it just doesn't sound like Oasis should. 7/10
4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out - A slower offering. Liam sings on this one, and it just sounds dreary and boring. Another poor offering. 6/10
5. Songbird - Better. Classic Oasis, very simple easy rhythm and nicely put together. Quite a chilled out song and a good offering. 8/10
6. Little By Little - Best song on the album for me. Noel sings again and this just feels like a really big song. It starts off quite slow and builds up nicely. This is from the Don't look back in anger mould and sounds great. 9/10
7. A Quick Peep - Nice little instrumental. 8/10
8. All In The Mind - An unusual song, not a bad one, sounds a little different from what were used to. 7/10
9. She Is Love - Another good song. This album is probably the slowest one Oasis have done. Lacks the power and pace of others, but tracks like this still sound very good. 8/10
10. Born On A Different Cloud - Another song that does not really achieve anything! It's slow and boring. 6/10
11. Better Man - They need a strong finish. They don't provide one. This sounds like a poor mans Stone Roses. Not a good way to finish off. 6/10
Overall would say this is not one of Oasis' best album, in fact would say it's one of their worst! There are to many poor songs on it. There are some very good ones to, but no classics that make the 10/10 mark. So if you're not a huge fan of the band, I see no reason why you would want to buy this.
It just about makes it to 7/10
Summary: Not nearly good enough from the band!
