Advantages: Excellent tracks, very catchy

Disadvantages: None

Heaven and Hell is the first Black Sabbath album after the departure of Ozzy Osbourne, the album was their 9th album. The change in personnel gave both Ozzy himself and Black Sabbath a new release of life, following some rather uneventful albums. Black Sabbath's improvement was short-lived but centered much around new singer Ronny James Dio who gave the band a new sound.

Black Sabbath have a very wholesome sound on the tracks on this album. Lady Evil and Heaven and Hell are probably my two favourite tracks of the album as they are just so catchy, lyrically and riff wise. There is also the inclusion of keyboards as Geoff Nicholls was originally hired as the band's bassist because Geezer Butler was missing quite a lot of this time due to going through a divorce but the band eventually ended up with both of them. The sound of the songs are polished, the production is good and there is great timing when it comes to mood changes.

This has to be one of the band's best albums to date and definitely my favourite after the initial period of success the band had around 1970.

1. Neon Knights
2. Children Of The Sea
3. Lady Evil
4. Heaven And Hell
5. Wishing Well
7. Walk Away
8. Lonely Is The Word

Summary: Superb!
