Heavy petting zoo was the sixth studio album from the punk band nofx. It was released in 1996 and by this time the band had already gained some fans from their other releases and they were at a somewhat peak in their career too. The first song is hobophobic (scared of bums) which is a really short but sweet little opener, and when I say short I mean it too, its only a mere 49 seconds long however it's a nice little song and sounds pretty good. The next song Philthy Phil Philanthropist is a really great song and easily my favourite off this album, it adds a bit of a ska mix into the album as well, I think the lyrics are just great to this one, it's a ... My brother and dad have been in to NOFX for far longer than me but i downloaded a few songs and loved what i heard. A few days ago i came across this album at a car boot sale for only 50p and it blew me away. The band NOFX are a punk rock band that formed in 1983. They have had many lineup changes but despite this they have racked up over 6 million independant album sales making them one of the most succesful independant bands. They also refuse their music videos ... Read the complete review

This CD shows NOFX at the height of their popularity, the album brings such things as homless people, the lesbian loving Liza of Whtie trash, two heebs and a bean fame and kids today to light. the record is interlectually challenging. No, not really this album shows NOFX acting like teenagers and singing about the state of america. If you liked "Pump Up The Valuum" Then quite frankly "heavy Petting Zoo" will be like a de ja vu experiance. But more! ... Read the complete review

The premier U.S punk rock band's follow up to their most commercially successful release, 1994's Punk In Drublic, is a slower, more experimental outing that nevertheless hits all the right flat, cutting and anarchic notes. Rarely is this album cited by even NOFX's most fervent fans as one of their best records, but that only serves to give it a "hidden gem" feel. It opens with "Hobophobic (Scared of Bums", which is a short, snappy dig at the homeless. Then follows "Filthy Phil Philanthropist", which adds a bit of ska and even xylophone into the mix. "Hot Dog In A Hallway" is a highlight, and "Release The Hostages" is a ... Read the complete review
