Advantages: loads of tracks
Disadvantages: samey?
You know where you with these Hed Kandi albums, bursting at the seams with endless amounts of funky house fruityness, they capture the essence of weekend clubbing really well. This is one of the stronger albums of the series.
On this album:
Head straight to the brilliant 'Fade' by Solu Music for a slice of vibrant uplifting funky house. Glorious and sultry female vocals work well with the summery melody, making the song sound alert and fresh. Peyton's gay house anthem 'Higher Place' makes a welcome appearance. His knowing vocals and ability to deliver a rousing chorus make this a stimulating listen. Also on the first disc, check out the remix of Stonebridge, which takes things down a more commercial route and will please the cheesier side of dancefloors.
Onto disc two, Junior Jack's 'Stupidisco makes effective use of a Pointer Sisters' song, with a pulsating bassline and great female hook. It is up there with his other hit 'Da Hype' in terms of catchy appeal. Also check out the anthemic cover from Seamus Haji as he turns a seventies classic into a funky monster.
Overall:
With three discs of non-stop funky house, this is great value for money and there are few fillers. There were some that I was not that familar with, but this breaks the album up nicely. Dance fans need apply.
Summary: good value
