Advantages: Happy, summery, fantastic
Disadvantages: Causes arguments about Rockview vs Losing Streak
One thing about Less Than Jake is their fan base is loyal beyond measure. Those who love Less Than Jake really adore the band in my experience. Going to see them on their tours or at festivals they play is always great and you usually end up seeing familiar faces from previous gigs. One thing you will notice though is that most of the set will be made up from tracks will be made up from these earlier albums such as Hello Rockview. Good reason for this; they're so good it hurts!
I find that my favourite Less Than Jake album changes with not only my moods but also the season. In the summer I can't get enough of Hello Rockview. I love how you stick it on and you hear a beep followed by 'Last one out of Liberty City, burn it to the ground' before the music kicks in. The tracks seem to merge together in this album beautifully with each one telling a different part of the story that is Hello Rockview. I once heard the band describe their music as ska pop punk rock and this is close enough. What good does labling a genre do anyway so I won't try to do this myself. The ska chords are noticeable but not the main feature. They are probably the biggest contributor to LTJ being able to make a sad song sound happy though. What a great quality to posses!
Hello Rockview is the album on which the bands most well known song, 'All My Best Friends Are Metalheads' are on. A lot of people tend to turn agains songs when they become well known but this one is not to be shunned. The song is full of energy and you almost can't help miming the trumpets wherever you are. I have to say, Al's War is my favourite track on the Album though and probably one of my top 3 LTJ songs altogether along with Shindo and Malt Liquor. The tune is one of thoses that you recognise easily and the lyrics just come to you. I can always feel the sunshine when LTJ are playing and I get taken back to summer holidays past and having fun. Let's have a circle pit immediately if not sooner!
