Advantages: Varied, instrumental, contrasting and fun
Disadvantages: A little less cheesy than the first, but still as dramatic and hasn't got as much WOW factor
Strangely, this soundtrack, i've found, is often less expenisve that the previous one. Featuring the original cast members, this CD offers the full musical aspect to the second film from the writings of Peter Barsocchini.
High School Musical, the smash-hit Disney creation featuring the now famous Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and co, continues to roll out the debris from the films loved by millions...merchandise, clothing...and lots and lots of music. Its what makes HSM so fun. Full of nice harmonies, bouncy pop tracks and evident musical ability, the super six have sprung back into action since the first release in 2006.
Written by David Lawrence, Adam Watts, Matt Gerard, Drew Lane and various others, the very best of the Amerixan actors/singers are brought out. Not quite as disticitive as the original stuff, but just as entertaining; with hits such as "Fabulous" sung by the one and only Miss Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale), "You Are The Music In Me" and "Bet On It", this is varied and sharp, full of energy. There is more musical instruments evident too, which is a greta infleunce for kids and supports the tracks brilliantly in singles such as "Gotta Go My Own Way" (Vanessa Hudgens).
There is something for all fans. Similary to the first and last soundtrack, there is a contrast in the moods of the songs; with some being more serious and meaningful, meanwhile some more upbeat and fun. However, all of them are bold. "Bet On It" is amongst my least favourite songs on the 12 track CD and can be used to argue how the original is always the best, with the first of the crew being the main attraction to youngsters.
Although, it is a great buy at £6.96 on Amazon and i like its variety and some tracks i would be tempted to listen to, even not as a perticular HSM fantatic as some of my friends.
Summary: A good CD of the HSM's second release in 2006, varied and great for its audience
