Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: nothing
Even the artwork and design of the sleeve of this album ties in with the overall feel of the music. 'The Holy Bible' is a snarling, intelligent masterpiece of an album. The Manics return to their punk influences, but with even more angst ridden turmoil from the poetic, dark and harsh words that are mostly Richey's lyrics. The lyrics and songs in general do dwell on the harder side of life, but with a positive "do something" feel. Manics challenge everything that gets them down on this album. The themes are dark, the words are dark but put them together with the wonderful music and you can see the magic of this album. Musically it's a very raw sound - furiously powerful and energetic guitar and drums. This is a classic Manics album but also a classic full stop, an album I'd advise any music lover to get.
