Advantages: A stunning pop album from two very talented young ladies with a lot to offer

Disadvantages: I Don't Wanna Wait

Hook Me Up is the second offering from Australian twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, and for it they have adopted a more electro/pop dance style as opposed to the solid pop/rock of The Secret Life Of...

When I first had this album, I wasn't overly impressed but as I gave it more listens I began to really appreciate it as a brilliant album, a lot of the lyrics are very hard hitting and vocally you can see how they've grown too.

In Australia, the first single was the title track 'Hook Me Up', an electro-pop stomper which gives you a good idea of what to expect from the album, second single 'Untouched' was also the first single in the UK and got the girls into the top 10 recently, as well as becoming as smash hit for them in the US. It's an immensely catchy and addictive electro track with a hint of the pop/rock they were previously known for, and deals with sexual frustration. The third Australian single was 'This Love', not as fast and furious as a lot of the album's material but still comprising of the electro-pop/rock style, a touching track with a truly killer chorus. The final Australian single was 'Take Me On The Floor', a catchy feelgood dancy track with a "na na na na" hook that'll have you humming it for days, and the "I wanna kiss a girl/I wanna kiss a boy" breakdown.

One of the highlight album tracks for me is 'This Is How It Feels', a fast paced track with very bitter, angry and heartfelt lyrics about an ex who wants to worm their way back in after everything they've done to hurt you, something I'm sure we can all relate to, 'Revenge Is Sweeter (Thank You Ever Were)' is similar lyrically and is about being left for someone else.
'Popular' is one of the album's more "novelty" tracks, a short but sweet electro infused number that mocks celebrity culture in a caustic way, 'All I Have' is a very raw and emotional track which deals with cheating from the unusual viewpoint from the person who has cheated themselves, 'I Can't Stay Away' is a good track vocally, lyrically it's a bit daft in places but is about not being able to get enough of someone even though they're bad for you, hence not being able to "stay away".
The last track on the album is a ballad 'In Another Life', decent enough but they had better ballads on their first album, and 'I Don't Wanna Wait' is the only track I particularly dislike on here, messy and disjointed and it goes nowhere.

Overall this album is a pop gem from two amazingly talented girls, fully recommended!

not sure about these, pleasant in a 'I'm cooking and this is on in the background' kinda way.
