Advantages: timeless, great songs, amazing energy
Disadvantages: none!
Idlewild happen to be one of my most favoured bands as theyre are very talented and also very entertaining at the same time! They were first properly recognised in 98 after people became aware of their chaotic live shows and the group signed to record label Food. This was when they released their first major label dabut - Hope Is Important. I bought this album ages ago now but it still has the ability to rock my whole house! Idlewilds music is very varied, some songs are heavy and not suitable for all tastes while others are a lot mellower but each and very track on Hope Is Important is a musical wonder with great tunes and catchy melodies. Roddy Woomble has a very distinctive sounding voice that can be recognised instantly. It is this great voice along with the amazing energy and feeling in their songs that keeps me loyal to Idlewild! Every song has a meaning behind it and it is the sort of music that you can listen to for hours and become totally lost in the lyrics and the density of the sound. I always find myself singing along to the words, no matter how stupid i might look because it is so easy to involve yourself in! Idlewild are a very 'people-influenced' band and their songs deal with issues that everyone can relate to, happiness, sadness every kind of emotion you can think of is dealt tiht in Hope Is Important. The tracks on this amazingly deep album are - 1. You've Lost Your Way* 2. A Film For The Future 3. Paint Nothing 4. When I Argue I See Shapes 5. Four People Do Good* 6. I'm Happy To Be Here Tonight 7. Everyone Says Your So Fragile 8. I'm A Message 9. You Dont Have The Heart 10. Close The Door* 11. Safe And Sound 12. Low Light The asterix* indicates the heavier songs on this album. If you are an Idlewild fan I definitely recommend that you own this album. Every song is heartfelt, energetic and never gets old. The inlay of Hope Is Important is a
very simple image of a part of the scottish coastline and doesnt contain a lot of information. It is simple but effective and draws you into the rest of the album which is equally good! With Hope Is Important there is no such thing as a bad track as every song is amazingly good and a real gem! Even though ive had this album for absolutely ages it is still my favourite from Idlewild and still gets a lot of play in my stereo. The music is timeless and will in my opinion never get old! Every avid Idlewild fan SHOULD and MUST have a copy of this fantastic cd! If you havent then what is wrong with you??!!??!?!!
