Advantages: gentle songs
Disadvantages: ?
I am sat here listening to Keane. Listen with me
Somewhere only we know
I walked across an empty land, starts the cd beautiful words reminding me of walking across my home village green when feeling sad remembering all the places I was in my youth, where we sat and held hands tenderly kissed, our special place my den in the trees.
I came across a fallen tree, I felt the branches of it looking at me, was this place we used to love , The words of the song perfectly sum it up for me.
There is a lot of piano in this song an upbeat rhythm and Tom Chaplin vocals, magic.
Bend and break,
The next track. A more upbeat song this livelier the verse gentler building up to the chorus. If only I dont bend and break, Ill meet you on the other side, Ill meet you in the light if only I dont suffocate ill meet you in the morning when you wake .
We might as well be strangers,
A very slow sad song about lovers now strangers. Piano gives the feeling of lament with drums keeping the beat and a bass playing very down beat the down key suits this lament its very emotive.
Left feeling sad after that tune,
Everybodys changing now
This breaks into a faster beat. The drums leading the piano more in the background. The words are only a little more cheerful. Because everybodys changing, and I dont feel the same.
Your eyes open
Well its a lonely road that you have chosen. A good beat again with piano and some strings. Sounds like a little bird song in it. I guess thats because of the words Morning comes and you dont want to know me any more. This song took me a little while longer to get into
She has no time.
Singing about a failed relationship, She says she has no time for you now. Gloomy song gloomy words long notes, mostly piano.
Cant stop now.
Ive got troubles of my own and I cant stop for no one in town, no I cant stop for no one.
A song about someone too full of his own troubles to listen to yours. A louder song more bass a lot of drums.
Sometimes
A softer gentle song. Tom singing gently, electronic sounds, taping of the drums
I hold you in cupped hands and shield you from the storm.
This is the last time,
A brighter livelier middle paced song, a catchy tune a lot of repetitive words This is the last time
On a day like today
A slower paced song with haunting sounds, it does speed up a little. By the end I am singing it in my head.
Untitled,
Starts of on a lively drum beat slow to develop. Lots of echoed sounds around the lyrics Ill see you on the other side . It is not perhaps as haunting as they thought it would sound
Bed shaped.
Starts with long soft notes melodic piano playing. Vocals wistful, gentle, slow .A gentle song develops smoothly. Toms voice is quite high pitched in this it ends gently. Leaving me thoughtful and feeling quite relaxed a little sad maybe but not despairing as Lou Reed leaves me.
Keane are Tom Chaplin vocals,
Tim Rice Oxley: piano, keyboards and bass
Richard Hughes Drums.
Hopes and fears was produced May 2004. Thanks for listening with me, Mary

- 15/02/05 I keep promising myself this album. I haven't loved a group for a long time, but Keane are excellent. Good review. Sam xxx

- 14/02/05 Don't agree with Nednod. They are a great group - despite the songs all sounding the same and the lead singer looking like a cabbage...
