Premium Review Hot Shot - Shaggy: I Swear It Wasn't Me (1021 words)
by - written on 27/08/07 (Very useful, 111 readings)
Rating:

Before Orville Burrell went to the sereoius reggae dancehall for which he is lesser known for now, Shaggy made hits for he mainstream audience. This features hits modern greats of "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel" for which he last gained a lot of popularity, as well as two other singles which he released in 2000. 1. "Hot Shot" **Four Stars** This kicks us off with a soft reggar tune to get us into the correct mood to listen to Shaggy. "They call me Mr. Hot Shot" It is a jumpy beat as Shaggy provides smooth soft vocals. 2. "Lonely Lover" **Four ...  Read the complete review

To be honest, I have never been a fan of Shaggy, but I am always willing to give a new release at least one listen just in case I am surprised by the artists latest offering. Loaned of copy of "Hot Shot" by a friend, I sat down and prepared to be surprised. The opening track is the title track, and it is the kind of music to make you physically cringe as Shaggy proclaims in his fake accent that he is "Mr Hot Shot". It is the kind of music that might make you "bump and grind" should you be that way inclined. It has shades of his legendary hit "Mr Loverman". It is far from original, and if this is the standard of the opening track, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hot Shot - Shaggy: Mr Hot Shot..........or not??!!?? (2441 words)

The latest addition to my ever-growing CD collection was a mistake! I don’t mean now that I’ve got it, I mean the actual buying of it in the first place, let me explain…. Driving along in the car the other day, and this great song comes on the local radio (Broadland for those of you in East Anglia), didn’t and still don’t know who it was (but he sounded so much like Craig David who I think is great!!) Anyway, I’m in the city the next day, WHSmith buying my weekly supply of mags, and there stands a rack of Shaggy’s Hot Shot CD’s. At that point I have no idea who Shaggy is or what he sings. OK, OK I might be showing my ...  Read the complete review

Hot Shot was released by reggae artist Shaggy in 2000 and done really well in the album charts at the time, this is a really good album and has a lot of memorable songs, including the most famous 'It wasnt me' and 'Angel'. Hot Shot is a funky, sexy and cool mix of tracks, and is in my opinion Shaggys best album. You can buy this album in most good music stores for around the £5 mark which is a really good deal if you a fan of Shaggy or are into reggae style music. The track listings for Hot Shot is: 1.) Hot Shot 2.) Lonely Lover 3.) It Wasnt Me 4.) Freaky Girl 5.) Leave It To Me 6.) Angel 7.) Hope 8.) Keepin ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hot Shot - Shaggy: Sheer brilliance (117 words)
by - written on 30/07/02 (Somewhat useful, 16 readings)

This album is only for the summer really so I wouldn?t start playing it in the winter or you will just lose respect for it. It was brilliant when I first got it, I was on holiday and the sun was beaming and the tracks just got you into the mood, some of the tracks are the classic chart toppers such as ?angel and it wasn?t me?. My preference though is ?hope? which I believe was released as a double a side, I was stunned by this as it is one of my favourites on the album and all time. I recommend this to everyone in the summer but not the winter. ...  Read the complete review
