Advantages: Awesome vocals, fun music and lyrics

Disadvantages: None

Hotrod Frankie are a pyschobilly band from Sweden and should be far better known. With heavy militant drumming, catchy guitar playing and quirky lyrics belted out in a husky but clear and cool sounding voice like Lemmy meets Elvis - the sound is quite recognisable. Borrowing from doo-wop and punk for their sound, the lyrics often show that with references to Peggy Sue in Highway 69.

Lost in Lynchland is the band's 2nd album and has a cleaner and less horror themed album than the band's 2006 debut "My Father Was a Madman", the music is well paced whilst some tracks could be considered a relentless fun assault (Black rider & Boogeyman returns), others like "Showdown at 101" and "Love Song for the Dead" are slower with strong emphasis on chord changes - somehow the band have genuinely made it sound like a showdown. This is a theme which runs throughout the album - cowboy related songs, the former album often started tracks with a spoken word intro, usually quite humorous - this format is less used on this album but can be found on tracks like "Lynchland Cowboy" and "Lynchland - Gates of Eden"

I assumed that this band woud follow up with another horror themed album but they've opted for a bit of variation and they've done it excellently. This album is awesome, with bags of fun and a hint of sadness, humorous lyrics and a very charismatic vocalist, it has a really polished production sound and crosses several genres - "Wolfwoman" sounds even like Lou Reed in parts.

I'm not sure if it's intentional but it's ny on impossible to find this album to buy, however it's on torrents just about everywhere.

Summary: Better than the band's debut
