I remember buying this album on tape when it came out (1994) from Our Price. Nice.

It turned out to be one of my favourite albums of the nineties. It is quite brilliant.

Opener, Alice What's The Matter, lets you know that these boys have got a bit of a harder edge than a lot of there Britpop/rock contemporaries. It also let's you know they've got a stupid sense of humour and they're far sillier than their contemporaries too. The lyrics are not 'high art'.
It's amazing how many tracks on here went on to be big singles. I bought the album after hearing Oblivion, which is a fantastically fun perfect pop song.

Stop The Bus slows things down with it's plodding funky groove before th pace lifts again for the 'in yer face' Discotheque Wreck. The album contains a couple of much more sombre ballady songs like Some People Say (which had a weird ass video too), which is a stunning song.

This is ballsy british rock with it's tongue in it's cheek. The song-writing is excellent which means it works. There are a few dips but the range of material is always going to mean there will be a few downers depending on what floats your boat - I HATED Pretend Best Friend for a good decade, the rapping on the verse rubbed me up the wrong way and gave me a real dose of the queers......... or something. Now though, I quite like it :-)

If you like any type of rock music, I'd say you'd find it hard to dislike this record.

Summary: 15 years later it still sounds wicked

I was only 10 years old when this album came out (my older sister was a huge Terrorvision fan and I got to know their stuff through her) and like you say, 15 years later and I STILL listen to the album on a regular basis. Brilliant catchy stuff \m/

My wife once met the lead singer on a train back from london - he was as nice as pie!
