Advantages: Well produced, well written
Disadvantages: Bit dated?
This is one of my favourite all time albums. As a pre-teen, this album made a very significant impression on my adolescence. Every one else was into Duran Duran, Spandau and ABC, I was into Bowie, Stones and Lou Reed. Needless to say, I was a bit off stream. I don't like to comment on individual tracks on albums unless they are oustanding or atrocious. Albums are written and compiled as one entity and should treated as one I think anyone. These days an album is medium to cram lots of tracks together that does no justice to the industry or the buyer. To take this album out of context into the new millenium does not do it justice. Music is a little like vintage wine. Some travel well, some don't. I think David Bowie is a very personal artist. His music means different things to different people so my review probably won't mean much to anyone else. I think the trick is to listen to it and cast your mind back ot what it reminds you off, not totally what it sounds like. Acoustically very good. Good seventies genre album.

- 21/11/00 This too is one if not 'the' favourite album of mine, and like you I was considered a bit 'odd' liking him at such an early age when everyone else was into pop, I still love him but for me the tracks on here carry a lot of emotion - still love it!! |
