Texas gave themselves a tough task in trying to live up to their previous album, White On Blonde, but The Hush is certainly an album they can be proud of. There are a number of excellent tracks, most notably ?Summer Son?. Singles ?When We Are Together? and ?Once In A Lifetime? also feature, although once again it is some of the less heralded tracks which shine through, most notably ?Day After Day?. The tracks are excellent, again showing a diversity many groups do not have. It is not just the music which is versatile, as Sharleen Spiteri?s voice is the perfect foil on all the tracks. It can be either punchy or mellow, although I dare say that her part ... Read the complete review

I have owned this album for quite a while now. but just had to post a review, so more people can be aware of what a fantastic range of songs this album has to offer. If you liked White on Blonde then your bound to love this album. It's like white on blonde but with that extra cherry on the top, which makes it that little bit more modern and up to date! I must say, I have not always been a Texas fan, in fact I hadnt really payed much attention to them atall, until 'Once in a lifetime' came out in the charts. U know how some songs take time to grow on you? well this one struck me straight away as being a favortite of mine, which i still now ... Read the complete review

The Hush was Texas' attempt to follow up the success of White On Blonde. While its not quite as good overall, its still a listenable album. The first thing you notice about this album is the very laidback style of it all. A number of tracks have a Motown feel to them. The best tracks are "Saint" (which should have been one of their singles), and the instrumental Zero Zero. The most well-known tracks are "Summer Son", a straightforward piece of rock/pop, and the slightly oriental sound of "In Our Lifetime". This album may not impress at first, but its definitely a grower. Its maybe not the most memorable album, but ... Read the complete review

Texas in my opinion had a massive job to do to follow 'White on Blonde' and although the album is very good I do not think its as good as White on Blonde. There are a couple of catchy tunes and singles for example 'In Our Lifetime' and 'Summer Son'. To me the album is more likely to be remembered by the video of Summer Son where Sharleen Spiteri does a fantastic job of being made love to by the Sun - hot. Its still worth a listen to please do not let me put you off it. ... Read the complete review

Massively melodious vocal work, incredible instrumental power.
I fail to think of any.

'Red Robin' is quite good.
The rest is dull and tedious.

Innovative merging of black metal and indie shoegazing that works better than expected.
Lacking in variety, and often self-contradictory.

Some more Candlemass material.
Their weakest album, plagued by problems.

Powerful vocals, high production values and an enjoyable mood.
Rooted in the past with few distinguishing features.
