Advantages: Linkin Park's best album, some great songs

Disadvantages: A couple of poor tracks lets it down slightly

Hybrid Theory is the smash hit album released by the Nu-Metal kingpins Linkin Park in 2000.

The album features 12 songs and last's approximately 38 minutes, unless you are an owner of the special edition which lasts approx 56 mins.

The 12 Tracks are as follows:

1 - Papercut - 3 mins 05
2 - One Step Closer - 2 mins 35
3 - With You - 3 mins 23
4 - Points of Authority - 3 mins 20
5 - Crawling - 3 mins 29
6 - Runaway - 3 mins 06
7 - By Myself - 3 mins 10
8 - In The End - 3 mins 36
9 - A Place for my head - 3 mins 05
10 - Forgotten - 3 mins 15
11 - Cure for the itch - 2 mins 37
12 - Pushing me away - 3 mins 12

The album has enjoyed worldwide success selling over 24,000,000 copies which makes it the most successful debut album of the 21st century. Over 10,000,000 of the sales were in the U.S alone with it also selling strong in the UK and Western Europe.

There were 4 songs released as singles from the album; One step closer, Papercut, In the end and Crawling.

Now I'm not going to bore you with individual reviews for each track as that would spoil it for you! But I will review these 4 tracks from it briefly.

One step closer is the first single that Linkin Park realeased, it has quite a strong guitar section to it, the lyrics are probably some of the more aggressive ones found on the album and features the infamous part where Chester screams "shut up when I'm talking to you!" This is one of the better songs on the album and is probably the one that is closes to Linkin Park's original roots.

Papercut is a song whose lyrics are based on paranoia and fear, this track is Linkin Parks 3rd single release. The song is most noted for its rather surreal video with band members seen to be melting. The song features a strong drum rhythm which I find enjoyable.

Crawling is probably the most well known single from the album and is really the one that shot the band into the limelight, the lyrics are probably the strongest feature of this song, they can be a bit overpowering for some people but I think they are great.

In the end is the song which performed best in the singles chart from this album reaching no.1 in the U.S, it is also probably best known for its surreal video, featuring flying creatures. This songis dominated by Mike Shinoda's "rapping" and his piano riff at the start. Overall I would say this is my favourite track on the album.

Other notable mentions is for Runaway and Pushing me away, these 2 are both very good songs that are actually quite catchy.

In summary I would say this album is the best Linkin Park album out there, the newer ones I have found to be far too main stream and commercialised.

Summary: BUY IT NOW!
