Advantages: Every song is brilliant
Disadvantages: Could be longer
Hybrid Theory is the debut album by the American band Linkin Park that was released in 2000 to massive acclaim worldwide.
I'm not usually a big fan of rock music apart from Foo Fighters and a few other bands but I absolutely loved this album from the very first time I heard it. Every song on it is brilliant and I can listen to it from start to finish without any need to skip ahead. There are no bad songs on it and with some really high quality songs it's an album that I'd rate up there ahead of the many others that I own.
My favourite song on the album is probably either the second one, One Step Closer or song 8, In The End. One Step Closer is the first single they released and it is impossible to listen to and not get pumped up by it. It's pure anger and Chester Bennington's voice is just perfect for it. In The End is the opposite of the previous song and is just such a great song. Anyone else who had written lyrics like these would be applauded but for some reason Linkin Park don't seem to get that recognition.
The only real downside I can suggest for Hybrid Theory is that it just isn't long enough. Another few songs would have been great but if they hadn't got any more songs of this quality to add to it then it's probably best they left it like this. Some people don't like the Cure for the itch' song since it's not a typical song. However, I think it's done to showcase the ability of their DJ. While it's usually Chester Bennington's vocal skills or Mike Shinoda's lyrical or production skills getting the main credits, the rest of the band is also supremely talented so it's always a good thing when they get time to demonstrate it.
I really can't recommend Hybrid Theory enough. Since it's been out for almost a decade now (I can't believe that!) you can get it on Amazon for less than £5. For that price especially you can't go wrong with it and I'd suggest that if you don't have it, go get it! You won't be disappointed.
