Has anyone here heard of a band called Hybrid Theory? Well maybe some of you, but the once excellent band called Hybrid Theory are now the excellent band called Linkin Park. I?m not sure where they got their name from (maybe someone can help me out) but I do know why this is their name, they decided that if they could fire themselves onto record store shelves next to Limp Bizkit it would help them in their quest for fame and glory. However, Hybrid Theory is the name of their totally awesome album, with twelve great tracks for all kinds of moods.
Linkin Park are formed by
Chester Bennington ? Vocals
Rob Bourdon ? Drums, Backing Vocals
Brad Delson ? Guitars, Base, Backing Vocals
Joseph Hahn ? Records Sampling, Backing Vocals
Mike Shinoda ? Emcee, Vocals, Beats, Sampling
To say in breif, their album, Hybrid Theory, is a very good album, but I think that you need to be a fan to like their album, as although the songs are different and good, they seem to be built from the same foundations. But hey, if it ain?t broke, don?t fix it!
Here?s a brief summary of the tracks for all of y?all.

Papercut

This is the latest (and third) song released from the album. It?s a great mixture of rapping and singing forming a not too heavy track for all people.

One Step Closer

One Step Closer was the first song released and is the most heavy track on the album. No rapping, just a blend of proper (as in non-screaming) and shouting style of vocals, with an addictive tune to it, one of the best songs on the album.

With You

Personally, I love this track, but I can also understand why most people wouldn?t like it. The band makes full use of the decks in this track, some nice vocal, rapping and shouting, and catchy tune. On the whole, I think that this song is just and album filler (bad to ok song used to take up some album space)

Points of Authority

Yet another album filler, which I also love
. I can?t really explain this song, except some singing vocals and a line of rapping in which the lyrics I think are awesome, her, I?ll treat you to them: ?forfeit the game, before someone takes you out of the frame, and puts your name to shame, cover up your face, you can?t run the race, the pace is too fast, you just won?t last?. Well, I think it?s good anyway.

Crawling

This was the second track, and arguably the best song on the album, one of the best songs in the world for me. Unfortunately it didn?t make it to as high as it could have been in the charts, I think the band need more radio exposure. The vocals in this song use the bands ability to sing, rap and shout to a great affect creating a relaxing happy song good for most people (my sister likes this song, and she doesn?t like anything but dance)

Runaway

This song is quite similar to Crawling, not as good and not as relaxing, but it uses similar sound effects and vocals to create a similar great song. This is also one of the best tracks on the album.

By Myself

This song is mainly rapping, not in a Dr. Dre or Eminem style, but in a nice chilled out tone. This and the tune makes it a quality song, the chorus and interlude could have been made better.

In the End

This is a great song, if you want to talk about meaning, this is the song to talk about. This is a slow paced song about time, and is such a good song. They SHOULD release this song next, this will do well. If you aren?t going to get their album, download this off one of the many websites there is to download songs from

A Place for my Head

This song starts with a totally cool base (even though the band have no base player) and continues it ?coolness? all the way through the song. This is one of those summer tunes and is really good.

Forgotten

OK, I?m running out of things to say as most of the songs on the album appear to be built on the same fou
ndations. However, I think I can go on. This song blends the bands rap skills with Chester Bennington?s versatile vocal skills to produce a quality song.

Cure for the Itch

I know that Linkin Park are a band, and ?The Chillout Session? albums are dance music, but this song would be a real bonus on it. No vocals, just music, it starts off as just a beat, then progresses into a real chillout tune. Great song, perfect for calming down

Pushing me Away

This is a great song, another contender for ?best on the album?. This is just singing, shouting, and a rap bridge, and is pulled together to form a quality tune.

There aren?t many bands in the world that can boast having an album of twelve songs, with twelve really good songs that you can listen to over and over, and Linkin Park are one of these bands. If you like their type of music, and don?t have their album, then you have to ask yourself ?why not?.

jamie is right about the name... they wanted the name 'hybrid theory' for the band as this represented their way of fusing different styles or something, but there was already a band called that so they decided on Linkin' Park as described below...

Also - you say they have no bassist...but they did use session bassists for the recording of the album before they bought in their current bassit, Phoenix.

Hope that helps. Good op tho :) -nick

I think their name "Linkin Park" was an alteration of "Lincoln Park". Aparently there is a "Lincoln Park" in a high percentage of towns and cities in the USA. They felt that "Lincoln Park" would be familiar to the fans, however there were problems with obtaining the name, so it was changed to "Linkin"....wel l thats the story I heard. Jamie :-P

Good Op. I only like In The End really, Its a great song but the others don't appeal to me much, I agree that they should release it next as it has you singing along to it.
