This album has a lot to offer Nas fans, it's another one of the few albums you can listen to from start to finish without skipping forward a track. Maybe not as raw as Illmatic, but with less pop appeal than It Was Written. "Hate Me Now" is Nas's tributed to all the haters and those who didn't believe in him. Produced by Foxy Brown's brother Nino Brown (formally known as Pretty Boy). It features Puff Daddy, but he kinda ruins the dramatic violins with him screaming "Die muthaf*cka, die". Cast your mind back to 1994 and the first time you heard Nas' distinctive flow...jaw dropping. Illmatic boasted tight production from the cream of hip hop's East Coast, and lyrics that rightfully instated Nas as the second coming....after Rakim. Since then true heads have been waiting for the Queensbridge Prophet to deliver more of the same. Unfortunately its just gone downhill, this being the bottom of the barrel. The lyrical content has become money obsessed - much like the majority of mainstream hip hop nowadays - and the production well below par.
