Advantages: Good cameos with Redman and Puffy, dope lyrics

Disadvantages: not as well as he could do

KRS-1 is undoubtedly one of the dopest emcees ever. But he isn't the best producer, and it shows on this album. My expectations were sky high, but were never fulfilled. His last album, "KRS-ONE", is one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever. With production done by DJ Premier, and several others, it had intelligent and funny lyrics, plus KRS had a flow which couldn't be better. On this album, it all seems to messy, and he relies to much on former fame. The first real song doesn't start until track 3, and the next song is just a bloody mess. For christ's sake. First half of the album includes "Rapture's Delight", "The MC", and "Heartbeat(featuring Redman and Angie Martinez)" as the only highlights, then it improves for the second half, with the Muggs-Produced "Can't Stop, won't stop" and "Blowe" featuring Redman as the rescuing tracks.
I can't condemn his ingenuity, (he has a Heavy Metal song in there as well for christ's sake!), but songs like "Over ya head" just don't work!! KRS also tries a commercial cut, with the remix of "Rapture's Delight" feat. Puff Daddy. Well, well. It seems like he wanted to express the difference between the greatest and the worst. Or maybe he just wanted to make a little more dough. Either way, this album isn't as good as it should be.
But it's not bad. You know you're a good MC when you can put out a mediocre album and it turns out pretty good. It's just bad compared to KRS' standards. Anyway, if you want only one KRS album, go for the last album instead.
