Hate Eternal are disappointing considering their apparent status as a death metal super-group, collecting some of the Florida scene's most respected performers. Whatever their earlier albums sounded like, by the time of 2005's 'I, Monarch,' the band has settled into an incredibly repetitive and largely mindless display of speed and intensity over musical direction, and the idea of virtuosity seems to have gone to their heads (perhaps evidenced by the pompous album title). The style is gripping at first, as 'Two Demons' explodes out of the speakers with its hammering drums and heavy guitar riffs, but after a few minutes, and once the next song comes around, the ...
