Advantages: Brings back many happy memories and very enjoyable music.

Disadvantages: Wham are no more!

I was a huge Wham fan back in the day and my first album I ever bought was Freedom. I was not so fanned up though that I felt suicidal when they split up but when I saw this album a few years ago I thought I had to buy it to relive my teenage years and see if I still liked all the songs.

Here is the playlist:

1. If you were there
2. I'm your man
3. Everything she wants
4. Club Tropicana
5. Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go
6. Like a Baby
7. Freedom
8. The Edge of Heaven
9. Wham Rap!
10. Young guns (go for it!)
11. Last Christmas
12. Where did your heart go?
13. Everything she wants '97
14. I'm your man '96

Ok, my fave song on this album is Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go. It was released originally in May 1984 and is very dated now but when it comes on it really makes you want to get up and dance anyway. My friend got married last May and she had a lot of these types of songs at the reception. I would say 3/4 of the guests were up and dancing. This song has a really feel good feel about it. (Funnily enough when it was first released I was dancing to it at the once a month disco in the community centre where I lived. I was 12 at the time. Hee hee

My next favourite is Last Christmas. I know - it's cheesy but I love Christmas songs anyway and this one always makes me feel warm and happy about Xmas. I know the lyrics to this are pretty sad but to be honest it doesn't really matter. It must be the memories associated with it being released at the time that makes me love it. This was also released in 1984.

The last favourite I will tell you about I'm Your Man. This is another feel good song and I can remember dancing to this at that disco too. Everyone would sing the words at each other - including the girls - and laugh a lot. Happy times. Innocent times. Wonder what George Michael was really thinking when he made these songs. Did he know he was gay then? Who knows? He had relationships with women but maybe he was just hiding!!

My LEAST favourite on the album is...well I haven't got one really to be honest. I like them all and they are so filled with good time memories of growing up and getting into music that I can say I could sing and dance to them all.

A little bit of trivia on George and Wham....

1. In the video for Last Christmas the ever-present backing singers for Wham, Pepsi & Shirley were shown along with Martin Kemp who was Shirley's boyfriend and now husband.

2. George Michael's real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.

3. He met his long term partner Kenny Goss in 1996 and they have been together ever since.

4. George Michael wears contact lenses and is partially red-green colour blind.

Ok back to the album...

The main colour of the front is a cross between purple and blue and Wham is written in capitals ranging from orange to green. There is a picture of George and Andrew in the top right hand corner.

There is a sleeve inside with all the song lyrics on it in case you stumble remembering the words!!

The disc itself is purple in colour with "The Best of Wham" written on it. No pictures.

You can pick this up for £10.99 on Amazon and cheaper if you use their sellers - around £4!

Hope you enjoyed this and it brought back some happy memories of the 80's. Maybe you’re even having a little sing a long now!!

Thanks for reading
xx

I really like your review although I must admit, I to my recollection Martin Kemp was not in the "Last Christmas" video, or at least I didn't see him. The young gentlemen sitting next to Shirley during the dinner scene didn't look like Martin so I'm a little confused. Anyway, I really liked your review.
