"II Trill" is the first album that Bun B, has release afer the passing of his life-long friend and fellow member of UGK, Pimp C. It is the follow-up to "Trill", which came out in 2005. The word "trill" Houston slang word, which is a fusion of 'true' and 'real'. The 2008 album is his second solso release to date.
1. "II Trill" (feat. J. Prince and Z-Ro)
Opening up the album, we get the title track to the album, and it has both J. Prince and Z-Ro (both the Houston, Texas), showing that they are just as Trill as the undergroudn king is. It is a banger of a track which has him open up the thing with muss which represents him the best as it is pure southern rap stuff.
**Four Stars**
2. "That's Gangsta" (feat. Sean Kingston)
Sean Kingston's right-side man, J. R. Rotem, is on here for production of this big hit from Big Bun and the "Beautiful Girls" singer who shot to fame last year. This is the first single from the album in which Bun B explains what it is to be G-A-N-G-S-T-A, Mayne.
**Four Stars**
3. "Damn I'm Cold" (feat. Lil' Wayne)
The king of collabs, Weezy F. Baby makes his mandatory appearance on this Hip Hop album by singing the chorus of this track and performing a few lines early on. CHOPS does the production in this track and I thoroughly enjoyed the unmistakebly Dirty South backing music, it suprised my that he pulled it off so well as he is most associated with artists out East, but he really made a convincing beat to accompany the king of Trill, Bun B.
**Four Stars**
4. "You're Everything" (feat. Rick Ross, David Banner, 8Ball & MJG)
This big single off the album has K-Ci of Jodeci re-sing the hook from "Cry For You", and in this case, the focus of things is shifted from a special lady (as it was in the nineties R&B song for Jodeci), instead these words are focused around a dedication to Pimp C as all the truest rappers in the southern game (expect Rick Ross of course) come together to show love for him.
**Five Stars**
5. "I Luv That"
Scott Storch always manages to surprise me with his beats, and with such exciting stuff in this one, he lives up too expectation with more original material with banging production which motivates. it is a tune which has bhim just relaxing for once as he is just chilling in the club for this track, and this breather is needed.
**Four Stars**
6. "Swag On 'Em" (feat. Lupe Fiasco)
Lupe Fiasco as a guest rapper on this one was a bg surprise to me, and although I sill found that I didn't particularly enjoy his part in it all, the hard beats and well-composed work with old school samples which all fit in with the theme of the track.
**Four Stars**
7. "My Block" (feat. Jazzy Pha)
This one is a straight Dirty South banger of a track, it is a pure street tune which has him assert his position as the King of the Trill on the streets of Port Arthur and Houston. Jazzy Pha is behind much of it, and it seems a big out-of-character to do so as it isn't a club type of tune which he usually does.
**Four Stars**
8. "Get Cha Issue"
This one displays exaclty why the artist is so respected in the game as he shows what he has been able to do over the years in moulding the perfect southern rapper. Here he raps in nursery rhyme fashion as he makes three specfic characters look at themselves and consider the hypocracy whihc they give. A policeman, politician and vicar are the three people who he goes hard at with viscious raps.
**Four Stars**
9. "Pop It 4 Pimp" (feat. Webbie and Juvenile)
Juvenile, who features on this track has his most notable track sampled here, as you can clearly hear "Back That Azz Up" from the New Orleans rapper back ten years ago. He also raps on the Mouse beat to show that he's got the Florida sound in effect on this Bun B album.
**Four Stars**
10. "Good II Me" (feat. Mưa)
I enjoyed this one, and I felt that it really highlighted the strengths of the artist as it has him doding one with the girls in mind, and has him look out for a queen to pair up with this underground king. The melodies of the hook really stick in your mind as if it was a Pop tune, and the fac that it's from Mưa certainly means something.
**Four Stars**
11. "Underground Thang" (feat. Chamilllionaire and Pimp C)
This is the only track on the album with some guest raps from pimp C, and to here new material from his partner in crime is great to hear. You have him backed up by one of the biggest H-Town stars in Cham, illionaire too, and despite the fact that I don't really rate him too highly, he did well here.
**Four Stars**
12. "If I Die II Night" (feat. Lyfe Jennings and Young Buck)
The Soul singer Lyfe Jennings support Bun by singing an emotive chorus for him, and it works extremely well in creating the mood for the track before Bun B gets a chance to show ff what he's got to say on this topic. It is hot stuff and he shows that he he has plans for every situation.
**Four Stars**
13. "Another Soldier" (feat. Mddl Fngz and Cobe)
This is a decent one, but it isn't really as strong as many of the thers track on the album. I felt that much of this was due to the fact that Bun B gave lots of the track over to featured guests, and the prodcution to it was fairly weak with Dj Khalil doign a Rock-influenced tune for big Bun.
**Three Stars**
14. "If It Was Up II Me" (feat. Junior Reid)
On this one you have the Dancehall star, Junior Reid backing up the rapper as he sings in the hook and brirnings in familiar cases of how the world would be different if it was up to Bun B, and how he would rule the world. It sems to take on from other themes which are found in the release, but it works better than any of the others
**Four Stars**
15. "Trill Talk" (skit)
16. "Angel in the Sky" (feat. Lil' Razah)
Here is another dedicatory track by Bun B made towards Pimp C, in this case he raps of the journeys which the two have made over the years and their struggle in pioneeriong the southern rap sound almost single-handedly with a lack of support from only others in the region (due to their isolation as small-town Texans).
**Four Stars**
17. "II Trill Talk" (skit)
18. "Keep It 100"
Bun B keeps it 100 percent real on this one as the title suggests as he goes on some hot beats from CHOPS, and the producers gives him the perfect stuff to work with in order to show that he hasn't got any time to do anything but keep things as real as they can get.
**Four Stars**
This Bun B solo album is a banger of a cut and one of the big albums of '08. There's lots of bangers in this release, however lots of it does repeat itself with the themes and such, however Bun B continues to excite the listener with his OG swag and killer rhymes.
Summary: Bun B's second solo album
