Advantages: Classic Whitney
Disadvantages: None
I'm a big Whitney Houston fan and have done a few reviews on some of her previous albums. My favourite album of hers at the moment is her new one that she released last month as I have been listening constantly to it. Her voice is not as good as it once was, granted, I don't rellay think she can reach the high notes or hold them for as long as she used to be bale to but for me she is still an incredible artist.
I was lucky enough to be able to get tickets for her concert at the 02 in London in April and in preparation for that my husband, who is also a big fan has me listening to some of her early early CD's to get a more rounded view of her work and music.
I'm Your Baby Tonight was one of her CD's that I was not too familiar with. I knew some of the songs but some were new for me and it was great to hear them for the first time. My husband put this one on because it also includes a duet with Stevie Wonder who is another favourite of ours. His voice and hers just melt together and they really sound great. They sing We Didn't Know which is track number 9 on the album.
The album is Whitney's third studio album. It was released in November 1990 so this is the time when In my opinion she was completely in her prime, releasing great songs, not haven gotten into drugs yet (hopefully) and really having a great time performing and singing. The album peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, went on to be certified 4x platinum in the United States, and spun two number-one hit singles, I'm Your Baby Tonight and "All the Man That I Need".
All the Man That I Need is a really good song too and one that I had definitely heard before. It's actually a really nice love song and one that is such a tribute to the man you love in my opinion. She talks about being unhappy until a certain guy came along and then now she's found him, he's all she's got in the world but he's all the man that she needs.
The rest of the tracks on the album are as follows:
"I'm Your Baby Tonight"
"My Name Is Not Susan"
"All the Man That I Need"
"Lover for Life"
"Anymore"
"Miracle"
"I Belong to You"
"Who Do You Love"
"We Didn't Know"
"After We Make Love"
"I'm Knockin'"
