The Best As Always (The Immaculate Collection: The Best Of Madonna - Madonna)

Advantages: superb songs Disadvantages: no faults
When you think of Madonna's music you probably think of three periods. The first being the eighties and early nineties which is covered by this CD, the second being the early to mid nineties when her musical direction was heavily criticised by the media for its sexual overtone, and the third being the late nineties where her music was once again embraced by the masses thanks to her hugely successful "Ray Of Light" album. This CD covers the first period which was amazingly fruitful for Madonna and covers the disco days of the early eighties with tracks like "Holiday" and "Lucky Star", "Like A Virgin", "Material Girl" and "Into The Groove". The album then proceeds into a number of more pop based hits such as "Live To Tell" and "Papa Don't Preach" and ends with a more dance based sound on tracks like "Like A Prayer", "Express Yourself", "Vogue" and "Justify My Love" (a slower dance track). The album showcases the rare talent of Madonna in that she can produce the funkiest dance numbers such as "Into The Groove" while at the same time producing emotional ballads such as "Crazy For You" and "Live To Tell". This album is a must for any music lover, the only question is when will she bring out a CD to cover her work from the nineties? Summary: |
