Advantages: Great, exciting, songs

Disadvantages: None.

As the first bars of 'In It For The Money' fade in you know you're listening to a magnificent album. This, the first track from brilliantly titled the album of the same name, is as assured an opener as you'll ever hear. Cutting out at the height of a crescendo at just the right moment to suprise the listener, it immediately moves on to 'Richard III' the number one single, with its heavy guitars and boisterous vocals. 'Tonight' almost disarms you with a guitar hook that remains wholly unpredictable for the first few listens. The thumping bass of 'G-Song', the excitement of 'Sun Hits The Sky', emotional lows of 'It's Not Me' and 'Going Out', another brilliant single, perfectly merging a huge brass section with the guitars and percussion in a way that sounds more natural than Blur's offerings. The closing track 'Sometimes I Make You Sad' could almost be a comedy track if it wasn't so good. Strange didgeridoo sounds and distorted vocals, but upbeat and try as it might, still great to listen to.

And therein lies the brilliance of this album. A band now more mature than on their debut "I Should Coco' has led, conversely, to a more experimental sound without resorting to childishness. This is an album never afraid to suprise the listener, constantly shifting direction but always sounding coherent. All three of Supergrass's records to date have been fine albums, but only one is a true classic. They may then only be in it for the money, but so long as they write songs as good as these, who cares.

A horribly underrated band. This is my favourite album by them with not a lame tune in sight. Good opinion.

Did Richard III really get to number one? I must be getting old as I don't remember that at all! Nice flashback to the Britpop days. :)
