Gomez formed in October 1996. The band consists of Ian, Ollie, Tom, Blackie, Ben and Dajon. Ian and Ollie already knew each other when they met Tom and Blackie at college. Ian then met Ben at Sheffield University and after then realising that they would need somebody for percussion, they hired the talents of an old friend, Dajon. The name “Gomez” came about when they were playing a gig as an un-named band. They made a sign for a friend whose surname was Gomez saying,” Gomez – The gig is here”. Innocent. Naive. Educated. Stoned. All words that summed up Gomez's debut album "Bring It On" four years ago. It was a musical revolution at the back end of Britpop that although heavily steeped in its influences never developed into the realm of parody. Fused with the Sound of Summer, Camberwell Carrots and yet recorded in a dark and dingy garage in glamorous Southport. This is Gomez’ third full studio album, follows the extremely successful Bring It On, and Liquid Skin. I between Gomez kept the fans happy with the superb Machismo EP and the Abandoned Shopping Trolley Helpline rarity album. I duly rushed onto the net and pre-ordered my copy form CD-Wow for an excellent £8.99. Although I didn’t get it on the release day of 18th March I had saved £4 and only had to wait until the Thursday, not bad when it comes all the way from Hong Kong.
