Advantages: The best studio album from Garth Brooks
Disadvantages: How dare you even suggest there could be disadvantage to this album
In Pieces is the third album by the most popular and best selling country music artist in the world Garth Brooks. It was released on 31st August 1993 and made its debut at number one in both the U.S. billboard chart and the Country Billboard charts.
This album was a massively successful album in the United States and spawned a large number of singles from it which all became with the exception of one top ten hits.
However it was in the good old United Kingdom that the real success of this album came as before its release it had already achieved the position of number 2 on the British Country Charts.(that's right we have a country chart in this country...you learn something new every day.)This was all down to import sales which were available from the States and Ireland.
Once the album was released it immediately went to the top of country charts and reached number 2 in the pop charts. Along with the album Garth also released a couple of the many singles that were released in the States in the UK as well these were
Ain't Going Down (Till the Sun Comes Up) - which reached number 13
Standing Outside the Fire - which reached number 28
The Red Strokes - which reached number 13

1. Standing Outside the Fire [length 3:52]
By far and away one of the best opening tracks on any album that I own. It starts with just Garth's voice and one guitar and by the time we reach the chorus has built to a very powerful and stronger track. The video to the song is also very much worth a watch.
2. The Night I Called The Old Man Out [length 3:12]
A great up tempo beat song, in comparison to the rest of the album through this is the weakest track in my opinion on the album.
3. American Honky Tonk Bar Association [length 3:33]
A real old school style country song which will have you sway and singing along after only a few seconds of listen to it.
4. One Night A Day [length 4:15]
The true ballad of the album which when performed live Garth would play the saxophone solo to himself. The song is a very simple one with only a piano playing to accompany Garth's voice for a majority of the song.
5. Ain't Going Down (Till the Sun Comes Up) [length 4:33]
Time to go balls to the wall with this one as the whole speed of album changes in an instant .Just try keeping up with the singing.
6. Kickin' and Screamin' [length 4:02]
Unlike the rest of the album this song has a real blues feel to it which gives the album a real nice change in direction.
7. The Red Stroke [length 3:44]
Without a doubt this is my favourite song on the album and a very close second behind the song "When you Come Back to Me Again" which is from Garth's "Scarecrow" album and also features on the movie soundtrack "Frequency" The video to this song is one of Garth's finest and I'm sure was the most fun to make for him.
8. Callin' Baton Rouge [length 2:38]
This song is what country music is all about fantastic as the studio version and even better live with crowd singing along.
9. The Night will Only Know [length 3:55]
A wonderfully told story style song which conveys an awful lot of emotion and feeling to towards the central characters in the song.
10. The Cowboy Song [length 3:59]
Now when most of us think of country songs this is what I manage we hear, but saying this "The Cowboy Song" is a very uncomplicated and simple song which rounds of the album very well.
All in all this is the best of Garth Brook's studio albums and if you are to buy just one of his albums then I would say that this is the one to go for.
This album unfortunately is not available to buy on iTunes at this time but I have found copies of it at HMV were it is £7.99 and Zavvi were it is £8.00.
