Advantages: Awesome guitar playing, nice variety of styles
Disadvantages: A lack of harps and cellos may disappoint most folk metal fans - I personally enjoyed the break!
Alternating between poppy vocals an attempt at a slightly authoritave warrior sound that you are likely to find in programmes and computer games revolving around legends.
Still Small Beer has a distinctly punky flavour to it and the simple but effective chanting appeals to me, nicely accompanied by either relentless drumming or celtic folk metal guitar riffs depending on the moment. Black Summer Rain is definitely the most eclectic song on the album as the band completely change sound combining a bluesy sound with a Motorhead one - the chorus is insanely catchy, it's a fast track - a true killer.
A surprisingly relaxing album, songs like Hit List - sound like they could really appeal to pretty much anyone, some beautiful clean guiar playing to be found. It's pleasant to listen to a bit of folk metal without tonnes of string instruments being played as seems the norm these days.
Modern Minds has a poppy arena rock sound to it that might please Bon Jovi fans. Lyrically, there's not too many songs that stand out but just about every track has at least one or two divine guitar solos.
